Interview
Scott Ian -Anthrax
Sept 13, 2007
By Gus Griesinger

Scott Ian is a guitarist from N.Y.C. who co -founded the group Anthrax in 1981. Even though Anthrax has gone through numerous line up changes, the band is in the process of delivering a new studio CD. Scott has branched out and has appeared in reality TV shows “Supergroup,” and “VH1’s Celebrity Poker,” hosted the 2007 Kerrang magazine awards, and is in the process of writing for DC Comics. Scott has become a household name and took a couple of minutes in between camp sessions at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp to answer a couple of questions for us at GlamMetal.

Gus: Thanks Scott for taking the time to talk to the readers at GlamMetal.
Scott: No problem

Gus: How did you get involved in Rock 'n Roll Fantasy Camp?
Scott: They called my management or my management called them. I did the last one in Los Angeles a few months back. I had a really good time at that one and it turned out that I was going to be in New York. For this weekend, so it all worked out!

Gus: How did the Los Angeles R.R.F.C. work out for you?
Scott: It was great! I had a lot of fun. That's the reason why I decided to do it again. I had a lot of fun the first time.

Gus: What other projects are you involved in besides Rock 'n Roll Fantasy Camp and Anthrax?
Scott: Right now I'm writing a comic for DC for their character Lobo. I just finished a record with Pearl (his fiancée) and we're going out on a two-week tour in the UK in November. I'm also writing an Anthrax record.

Gus: Is this Pearl's project or are you part of it also?
Scott: I'm just the guitar player.

Gus: Didn't you guys do some California dates recently and how did they go?
Scott: Yeah, Yeah! It went great! The record is done and we’re opening for the Meatloaf tour over in the UK, and hopefully she gets signed over there.

Gus: Nothing has been released here yet correct?
Scott: Correct!

Gus: What's the status of Anthrax right now?
Scott: Were writing a record. We'll keep on writing till the end of the year, and maybe we'll get into the studio by the end of the year and hopefully we'll have a new record by next summer.

Gus: Have you guys got a new singer yet?
Scott: I can't talk about it!

Gus: So, no comment?
Scott: No Comment.

Gus: How did you feel being a part of the reality show "Supergroup?"
Scott: It was awesome! It was like summer camp... with Ted Nugent as your counselor (laughs)! For me it was an awesome experience! It was one of the coolest things I've ever done!

Gus: Do you see you guys doing any future Dammocracy things (gigs, etc.)?
Scott: No. Definitely not! Not because we don't like it, it's just impossibility. They picked five guys that are still current and doing stuff or otherwise what would be the point of having a show? The problem is none of us have the time to commit to anything. Once the show was over we all just went our separate ways again. We are all just super busy, were all doing stuff. It would just be impossible from a scheduling point to ever get it done.

Gus: Do you stay in contact with any of the guys from the show?
Scott: Yeah! I'm in contact with Ted all the time. I'm in contact with Evan. I talk to Jason once every couple of months. I actually just talked to him last week. I'm also in contact with Sebastian.

Gus: Any more future appearances for Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp?
Scott: It depends. I know there is one in Vegas coming up, but I think I would be in Europe at that time. I certainly would be into doing again that's for sure.

Gus: We want to thank you for taking the time to talk to us today.
Scott: Cool man!

Editors Note: Unfortunately we were on a time schedule so that was all the time we were allowed with Anthrax' main man.
