NIGHTCLUB REVIEW by Tracey L & photos by Gus Griesenger June 25, 2007
Here at Glam Metal we use text and photos to keep the spirit of the 80’s alive. A new nightclub located near Buffalo, NY has the same goal, however, they bring it to life. At Rock ‘n Roll Heaven, old school 80’s rock and metal is brought to you weekly by owner Dave Buffamonti and manager, Jeff Fialkowski.
Buffamonti, a 15- year veteran of the Western New York club/concert scene unveiled the new club this spring, partnering with Jeff who’s task was heading up the remodeling project that challenged him to convert the venue, formerly a retail store of some sort, to the pair of nightclubs that now thrive in its place. However, there was a catch. The costly renovations were to be completed on a rock n’ roll budget. Aside from a few existing items, most everything else had to be modified, replaced, rebuilt or created from scratch.

First, the space was divided into two separate clubs by installing a retractable wall, placing Rock ‘n Roll Heaven on one side and Coyotes Nightclub on the other. A smaller, second stage was added to the R’nR side along with a raised level VIP tier along the back wall, complete with comfy restaurant style booths. Also erected were illuminated tunnels that lead between the two clubs and to the exits. The DJ/Sound booth area along with the outside patio, and brand spankin’ new bathrooms (halleluiah!) were the most challenging and costly of the project. Now, here’s where ingenuity meets nostalgia. Buffamonti has operated many a nightclub in his time. Although some were located in the same geographical location, name changes were plenty, Septembers, Sinbads, Blind Mellons, the original Rock n’ Roll Heaven, the second Rock n’ Roll Heaven (new location), even Impaxx Nightclub may ring some bells in our collective memories. So Dave and Jeff decided to bring a part of the past into the present. The original coolers from Impaxx are now located on the Coyote side of the club as the coolers from Sinbads have a new home on the Heaven side. The dance floor is made up of reconditioned wood obtained at an auction from a going- out- of- business bowling alley, where a host of other viable components were picked up at bargain prices as well.

Each club is separate, but equally cool, and for the bigger acts that roll through town, the retractable wall converts the club into a single venue that can hold close to 2000 partiers, rockers and anyone looking for a unique clubbing experience, no matter your musical preference. But do keep in mind, if you plan on spending your time on the Heaven side, you will hear no dance music between sets, there is no country night, no Duran Duran CD’s on hand, in other words, No BULLSHIT, just 100% unadulterated 80’s rock for your enjoyment.
Currently, Friday nights feature a rotating schedule of tribute bands from all over Western New York, Canada, and surrounding areas. Saturdays feature the house bands, Stealin’ and MetalWorks. Dave explained that the clubs summer concert bookings are purposely kept light due to the avalanche of free concerts that roll through town during the summer months, but rest assured, come September the shows will be plenty.
So, if you ever donned a black concert T-shirt, leather jacket and faded Levi’s, dig those suckers out, grow your hair out a little (unless you are follicle-ly challenged, then a Metallica baseball cap will do) and get your behind out to the new Rock ‘n Roll Heaven. Cause at the end of the day, it’s only rock and roll, but we like it!
