The Route of Evil tour stopped by Darien Lake and the double bill of Motley Crue and Aerosmith seemed to cover all the bases for what a Rock and Roll show should entail. Great Rock and Roll from both bands; check, Motley Crue dancer girls; check, Pyro; check, fake snow (during Aerosmith's Season's of Wither); check, a shirtless Joe Perry (for the ladies); check, bass smashing; check, spitting fake blood; check. Well you get the picture. Motely Crue opened up the show with "Live Wire" and ran through their hits of "Shout at the Devil", "Same ol Situation", "Home Sweet Home", a reved up version of "Louder than Hell", and a cool intro to Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child". The sound seemd loud and distorted and Nikki was directing the lighting guy to focus (We know your stoned but can you put that light over here!!!). So some people were not doing their job I guess! Vince also came out riding a chopper wearing a Jim Kelly Buffalo Bills jersey before "Girls, Girls, Girls".

Your writer was spewed on by Nikki before "Louder than Hell" and was really mad about it until I got the bottom of Nikki's bass guitar which seemd to take the sting out of my shirt being ruined. Otherwise, cool to see the boys play as Tommy is ready to tacke the Rockstar Supernova (or whatever they plan to call it), Nikki's working on the Heroin Diaries and turning the book "The Dirt" into a full fledged movie, and Vince is ready to put out a solo album. So this tour might be the last tour with them for a while.
Set List (in no particular order): Live Wire Shout at the Devil Looks that Kill Helter Skelter Louder than Hell Home Sweet Home Girls, Girls, Girls Wild Side Dr. Feelgood (with Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" intro) Don't Go Away Mad Same ol Situation Kickstart my heart Primal Scream Sick Love Song
Aerosmith took the stage with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry locked in behind Joey Kramers drum kit and kicked into their classic "Toys in the Attic". Some other songs played were "Mama Kin", "Jaded", "What it Takes", and "Eat the Rich". The coolest part of Aerosmith's set was when Steven and Joe sat down at the end of the catwalk and did an AWESOME rendition of "Seasons of Wither". I have to admit that even with Joe Perry edging towards 60, he still looks like a Ken doll. Steven Tyler, who usually doesn't look too bad, had WAY too much make up on and is starting to pack.......a gut!! He didn't look good at all. It's hard for me to say that knowing that he is one of my all time favorite performers. Maybe the divorce is taking a toll?? It was weird not seeing Tom Hamilton but David Hull filled in admirably. Brad Whitford seemed to be having a ball as he was smiling the whole time and seemed to be really enjoying himself up there. Aerosmith is working on a new album that should be out next spring.
Set List: Toys in the Attic Mama kin S.O.S Cryin Jaded Baby Please Don't Go Stop Messin Season's of Wither What it Takes Eat the Rich Sweet Emotion Draw the Line Love in a Elevator Walk this Way
