Williamsville, NY-With his signature Gibson SG in hand, Frank Hannon stepped onto the stage and proceeded to dazzle fans with every white hot lick that flew from his fingertips. With a set comprised of mostly new songs from his solo release entitled “Guitarz from Marz,” Hannon had every musician and non-musician alike standing in awe of his aptitude on the six-string as well as the 12-string.
Of course some Tesla classics were thrown in for good measure, including “Gettin’ Better”, “The Way It Is” and “Cumin Atcha Live.” However, the crowd seemed just as receptive to the new material Frank has been working on for well over a year. Appearing more than happy to be able to play these new creations, Frank and his band wasted no time in delivering a power packed series of sound that went from funk to blues to metal to classic rock all in blistering succession.
“Chain Reaction,” an instrumental, is a mind blowing funk-rock fusion that just grabs you by the throat right from the start and doesn’t let go. With high notes that make your ears bleed and choppy little funk-a-delic riffs, I imagine Frank had as much fun creating this song as he does playing it live.
Hannon most definitely lent his brand of magic to the fret board on another funky little number, aptly titled “Touch of Magic” where more intricate licks penetrated the eardrums of fervent fans.

The title track “Guitarz from Marz” is laden with a sexy blues-based cry that was spiced up with some crazy sound effects achieved through the use of a glass slide. The wild guitar wizardry continued well into the evening much to the delight of Frank Hannon devotees. This is a show not to be missed. Opening the show was Metalworks, a Buffalo-based band that pays homage to those songs we all just can’t seem to get enough of. This band succeeds in bringing everyone into the fold, providing a rock n’ roll kinship, so to speak, where a good time is almost always guaranteed.
