Toronto, Ont- We waited for a long time for Doro to make her way to North America and she obliged with a tour in 2007. The fans fortunately didn’t have to wait years in between tours this time around as in less than a year’s time she has made her way back to the United States/Canada. This time she has come with her long time guitarist Joe Taylor as he had to miss out on last years tour. Besides that the band remained in tact; Nick Douglass on bass, Johnny Dee on drums, and Luca Priciotta– Keyboards/ Guitar. I don’t know what the difference was but this show was totally amazing as Doro never sounded better!! Maybe the familiarity of having Joe back is the difference because I was totally blown away by the performance of Doro and her band at the Wreck Room in Toronto.

Doro hit the stage a little late (at 11pm) and played a solid hour and a half set that ran through 16 songs. The crowd was really into it and was singing along to many of the songs Doro performed including “I Rule the Ruins.” “Above the Ashes,” and “Hellraiser.” Doro shows a lot of energy and really gets the crowd excited by bringing them into the moment during her performances. She also showed her professionalism as spilled over beer bottle’s on the stage (on more than one occasion) did not take away from her concentration and movement about the Wreck Room. In my opinion, longtime bassist Nick Douglass is a very underrated player that contributes great background vocals while making it a point to interact with the fans while he is on stage. All in attendance were treated to an exceptionally tight set coupled with a chance to meet the band after they graciously returned post-performance to mingle with fans.
