At age 16, guitarist Dario Lorina is making quite the impact in the music industry.  The young guitarist has accomplished more in the last year, than most people do in a life time.  Dario picked up the guitar, when he was 6 and knew right then and there that music was going to be his career.

These days it is full speed ahead and no looking back for the 16 year old guitar prodigy. The Boston native, recently wrapped up a tour with 80's legend Jani Lane. In a recent interview that I conducted with Jani Lane for GlamMetal.com
TM, Jani praised his new guitarist and said, "Dario is a guitar prodigy." On the recent Jani Lane tour, Dario has given new life into the Warrant hits, giving them a vibrant, new sound.

Dario love for 80's music was sparked by his parents love of 80's rock, and his father's musical background. Dario's dedication to his craft has paid off,  as the guitar prodigy will be back on the road this summer with Jane Lane. I recently had the opportunity to catch up with Dario and discuss his future touring plans, how he got started in the music, and his love for 80's music in this exclusive interview for GlamMetal.com
TM www.dariolorina.com   www.myspace.com/dariolorina .

Dario, How are you doing? You recently wrapped up Jani Lane's Tour. How did it go?
I had a  blast.  Jani is a great guy.  He is a great performer. It was just a  great experience.         Dario-202

In a recently interview for GlamMetal.com, Jani said you are a guitar prodigy.  How did you hook up with Jani?
Management contacted management. Jani had me come out to LA, we did an audition. Then I went back to Vegas, and they had me record a few songs to send over to them.

On the recent Jani lane tour, what was your favorite song to play?
I love them all but definitely like "So Damn Pretty," "Machine Gun," but I love playing all of the songs.

Did you get to play any of Jani's new material on the tour?
We actually did "Back Down to One" and "Nothing."

Do you think you might be recording with Jani soon?
I am not sure about recording, I think we might do some writing. We are going out this summer for the summer tour.

Is it going to be a package tour, or a club tour?
Actually, I am not to sure about that. We are going to Colorado beginning of June. We will be back on the East Coast this summer.

How did you get involved in 80's music?
My Dad was always in a band and always playing drums. I was born into a rehearsal studio, you could say.  I was always going to sound checks and rehearsals, and I got a guitar for Christmas.  I just listened to all the parts of the music where the guitar was emphasized a lot.

How old were you, when you first got your guitar?
I was six years old, when I was first started. It was electric.

How did you go about crafting your guitar style towards 80's music? Did you have to listen to the CD's of 80's artists?
I just grew up Skid Row, Van Halen, Lynch Mob in the tape player.  That is what I grew up around.  That is what I grew to love, so that is what I really enjoyed playing. I really enjoy the guitar work from all of those players.

Back in the day. Skid row were the best. Sebastian is awesome.
I still love Skid Row. I love them all.

Now, I heard that you are from Boston. Did you grow up in Boston?
Yes. I was born in Boston. Grew up in Boston. I moved to Vegas, when I was twelve.

Did any of the Boston bands such as Aerosmith have any effect on your guitar technique or style?
I love Aerosmith.  All of  that scene always had an influence on me.

Did you take guitar lessons? Are you classically trained?
I had private lessons. Ever since I first got my guitar, when I was six. I had private lessons up to three or four years ago, when I started giving lessons.

Wow! Now you are giving lessons at such a young age, that is so amazing.
(laughs) Thank you .

Who are some of your guitar idols?
I really love Paul Gilbert's style. Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, I love Zakk Wylde's attitude when he plays. Definitely George Lynch.

Zakk is the best. What is your favorite guitar to play?  How many do you own?
Well, I have a few different ones, they are my favorites for different reasons. I wanna say I own twelve guitars. Each one I can play for a different reason. I am with Stone Tone  Music. They top the guitars with granite. the guitar looks gorgeous, but it sounds .incredible. The other guitar that I really like is called the LAG. They are handmade guitars from France. They are great. I am in love with a company in London called Shine Guitars. They make some great looking guitars.

During Jani's last tour did you play a different variety of guitars every night?
Yes, Actually I brought out my LAG and my Stone Tone. I  probably will be switching all summer long.

How do East Coast audiences differ from the West Coast?
I think they respect the 80's more. They are still into the 80's scene, which is awesome. They love their 80's music, which is a little bit different from other audiences.

What is the music scene in Vegas like?
It is not to good of a scene in my opinion.  They have their national acts that come through.  As far as the local rock scene, it is not too good. I played a the Empire Ballroom in Vegas. It is like a House of Blues, I opened for Dokken there.

Are you touring exclusively with Jani Lane now?
I am with Jani. I have been working with management on a band that everyone should be hearing about very shortly.
   dario03
Do you listen to any of the newer bands of today?
I love the 80's I could listen to that all day long. You always have to be influenced by something new, so I really like Avenged Sevenfold. They are a great band, everybody in the band is really talented. Shinedown , Nickelback.  They have a lot of songs on the radio, but they have a lot of songs on their CD, which is great too. I love Poison.

That is true.  Now you said your parents are the ones that really got you inspired by 80's music? Your Dad was a drummer?
Yes, My dad was a drummer. It was not a forced thing on me at all. I was around it. I wanted to play everything. I got a guitar and kind of stuck with that. Guitar was my first instrument. The drums were always around. I would beat on them every once in awhile. Guitar was my main thing.

What can the fans expect to see from Dario Lorina in 2006?
In 2006, you can expect to see me on tour with Jani. You can expect to see some things happening with my band that I am working  with right now.

Do you have any advice for guitarists starting out in the business today?
Follow your heart and play it because you love it not because somebody is forcing you or you want to look cool.  Play it because you love it.

I know you didn't live in the 80's. But how would you describe 80's music?
Let's see 80's music.  They have the hook, they have the look, everybody had the ability, that they lack in some of these newer bands of today.

Dario, That is awesome.  Thank you so much for doing this exclusive interview with me for GlamMetal.com TM.  Hope to see you on tour this summer with Jani Lane.
