Collective-Soul
Niagara Falls, NY- It was a pleasure to see Collective Soul play the Bears Den inside the Seneca Niagara Casino. This is by far the BEST place to see a show in this area (Buffalo/Niagara) bar none! It’s very intimate and the acoustics are tremendous as well. To top that all off, when you have a band like Collective Soul play there it makes for a great evening of Rock and Roll to say the least! Collective Soul took the stage to a very appreciative and small crowd (the entire place including standing room occupies 480.) They kicked of with “New Vibration” from their latest effort “Afterwords.” Lead singer Ed Roland who is a very interactive and talented frontman, lead the way around the stage the entire show tossing his mic stand from hand to hand and waving to the crowd as he sang the songs “”Heavy,” “Anymore Friends,” and “She Said.” After the song “Listen”,” Ed talked about how cool the place was and that they were saying how it reminded him of his dad’s church. He also said, “Come to think about it, its Sunday right?” Everybody had a good laugh and he said lets get back to the rock and roll and the band kicked into “December.” A little “I got soul” mixed into the chorus as Ed did a couple of different arrangements to other tunes as well. He added AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” riff and played another part of an AC/DC tune “Dirty Deeds” during the song “Hollywood.” That may have been the crowd pleaser of the evening until the crowd really participated during “Shine.” Joel Kosche and Dean Roland (Ed’s brother) guitar parts blended perfectly into one another without overpowering the other. Newcomer and drummer Ryan Hoyle’s drumming locked in with longtime original bassist Will Turpin. This band was at its best Sunday night, no doubt!

This band was so tight and having so much fun that there were two winners of the evening, the fans and the band themselves! They talked about how cool it would be to play a whole week at the Bears Den.. This may turn out to be one of the best shows of the year. If Ed and the boys get an inkling to come back to the area, I would say it’s a safe bet that another show (or two) at the Bears Den would be added to their tour schedule!

We want to thank Jillian Fiorella of the Seneca Niagara Casino for allowing us to cover the show. For any more information regarding Collective Soul, go to
