Concert-Review-2007BN

Blasdell, NY - We at GlamMetal.com were very excited to cover the all star band known as Big Noize. They are only playing a handful of dates and one of them happened to be less than 7 miles from my house. We were invited down to check out the sound check and meet up with the band. All of the guys couldn’t have been more accommodating! Before sound check, we sat down with the legendary drummer Vinny Appice, so stay tuned for that! During the sound check the band did two songs, “Stone Cold” and “Mob Rules” which were great! We knew we were in for a great show as the band sounded amazing!

The band took the stage at around 11pm to a more than appreciative Western New York audience. The band opened up with, “Mob Rules” and Joe Lynn Turner took the stage wearing dark shades and included the crowd in singing parts of the song. I never got a chance to see Joe perform live and he didn’t disappoint! The band consisted of Carlos Cavazzo on guitar, Vinny Appice on drums, Joe Lynn Turner on vocals, Phil Soussan on bass, and Teddy “Zig Zag” Andreadis on keyboards. The band did a great job of selecting songs that they connected with. I know people may think that bass solos are so passé. However, Phil Soussan not only made the crowd think otherwise, but due to his hard playing, broke a string and didn’t miss a beat! Pretty amazing as the band finished the song, “Metal Health,” and also played part of Bad Company’s, “Ready for Love”-which may have been the best part of the entire show! Phil is a true professional in every sense of the word! You can tell these guys were having a blast playing songs like, “Last in Line,” “Street of Dreams,” and “Highway Star.” It really was a treat to see these musicians come together for this project. Vinny also added some lit up drumsticks towards the end of the set which I don’t ever remember seeing a drummer do before. Also, what is a show without a harmonica solo? Teddy “Zig Zag” Andreadis provided us with that portion of the show on the last tune of the night, “Tush.”

Again, I cannot say enough positives about the show. The only thing that is disappointing is due to all the craziness of individual band members’ schedules, we may have to wait a little bit before we see these guys again. We really want to say thanks to Lisa Walker from To the Max Entertainment for providing us a pre show interview with Joe Lynn Turner that you can view here. Also, a special thanks to the hard working promoters Ross Catalino and Susan Sullivan of Back to Back Entertainment who made sure that GlamMetal were taken care of the entire day, and for helping us to set up our interview with Vinny Appice!
