Bad Boys of Rock Tour
(Hinder, Pap Roach, Buckcherry)
Tower City Amphitheater
Cleveland, Ohio
8/24/07 By Gus Griesinger

Papa Roach, Buckcherry, and Hinder can all headline their there own. So, I was a little skeptical of the headliner Hinder holding up as the main attraction for the Bad Boys of Rock Tour that rolled into Cleveland.. These bands were part of a festival earlier this year (Rock on the Range) in Columbus, Ohio and the billing worked so well then and I must say, it did again on Friday.

BuckCherry-BadBoys

The first band was Buckcherry and even though they played a short 8 song set, they did a fantastic job getting the crowd riled up for the next two bands Papa Roach and Hider. A short, high octane set from Buckcherry, nothing short, nothing less! Papa Roach played for over an hour and ran through “Forever,” Getting Away with Murder,” and “She Loves Me Not.” I loved how Papa Roach came out and kicked right into “To Be Loved.” What an energetic opener! This is a great band to see live. Austin Winkler from Hinder joined Papa Roach for the last part of “Dead Cell” and got the crowd even more fired up. Jacoby Shaddix is one fireball of energy as he continues to show a wider range of audiences how much of a fantastic front man he really is! He wore a really cool cassette belt buckle during their set as well. Hinder very much held their own with the more schooled rockers that played before them. Cody Hanson came out by himself with a little wave the hands to get the crowd fired up and then the rest of the band came out and kicked into “How Long.” During the song “By the Way,” Hinder was very appreciative of the overwhelming crowd response to telling them how much they loved them and how they rocked. Guitarist Blower is a great showman and is learning the tricks of the trade by showing that a little crowd interaction can go along way! Hinder covered Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild” with Jacoby Shaddix joining in for the last chorus. The coolest part of the set was them playing a new unreleased song called “Thing for You.” Cody came out from behind his drum kit to play acoustically to Austin’s vocals. Cody’s a talented musician and the song sounded great! Hopefully it will be on their next release. Sex sells and a very scantily clad woman came out to give the guys each a drink before one of their songs as they had a toast to the city of Cleveland! On this night, Hinder proved they can be just as good as a headliner as anyone out there. If you ever wonder how devoted their fans are, check out the anonymous girl who has her inner lip tattooed I love Hinder! Check out this tour when it comes to your town!

Austin mentioned to his fans to expect a new DVD out October 9th to document what happens backstage at a Hinder show. Also expect a live DVD out in the fall from Buckcherry as well. You can read more of the on-goings with Buckcherry as I was lucky enough to have a sit down with the tattooed man himself, Josh Todd before the show. Stay tuned for that.
