Q101 Block Party Buckcherry and Godsmack Chicago, Illinois Charter One Pavilion June 15, 2007 Review/Photos by Gus Griesinger
My first trip ever to the “Windy City” brought me to the Q101 Block Party that featured the bands Godsmack, Buckcherry, Taproot, and Finger Eleven. I was very surprised to see such a great lineup that was not sold out, not even close! The venue was on nearby Lake Michigan and Buckcherry took the stage at approximately 8:05pm.
I’ve seen the band three times since they have toured for their latest effort “15’ and it keeps getting better and better! The opened up with the first cut off of “15” “So Far.” Maybe the most energetic track to open up with and get it all started. The crowd seemed into it right from Josh Todd’s appearance on stage. I loved the interaction of guitarists Keith Nelson and Stevie D. during a couple of the songs during the show. This band is having a lot of fun on stage and with the consistent rhythm section of Xavier Muriel and Jimmy Ashhurst, they can continue to do so. The band constantly was moving around and giving the fans what they want….CROWD INTERACTION!!! Some of the raps before and during songs were hilarious! Before the song “Crazy Bitch,” Josh talked about how the orgasm is the best thing we got. It’s fun, it feels good, and it’s consistent. He also went on to mention how we liked the song because it brings out the animal in you. Definitely peeks the interest in women when this song is played that’s for sure! Buckcherry ended this tight short 9 song set with their first big hit “Lit Up.”
Yeah, Yeah, I know. You’re saying 9 songs, that’s it? Even though 9 songs were played they kicked the shit out of them, had fun doing it, and were very interactive with the crowd. They should be headlining their own tour but if and when that happens, they will be going out on the Bad Boys of Rock Tour with Papa Roach and Hinder this fall first. Check here www.buckcherry.com for tour and band info. It’s a must to see these guys live when you get the chance !!
We would like to thank Greg Cortez of B|W|R Public Relations for allowing Glammetal to review the show for Buckcherry and Rob Moore, 60 Cycle Media for allowing glammetal to shoot Godsmack.
